🔎 Far Cry 5 (2018) | What Do You Need to Know Before You Buy It #Review

Game: Far Cry 5
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal & Ubisoft Toronto
Publisher: Ubisoft
Useful: Trophies list
Soundtrack: Youtube
PlayStation Store: Download

And it happened, a few days later. 🙂 Since then, I have played only Battlefront II and Far Cry New Dawn, and, as I have under 10 trophies to take in order to finish the last one, I decided to finally end and publish this article.

Far Cry 5 is my first pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Ever.

As some of the readers of this website know already, I bought this game + DLCs on another account, but the friend I was playing this game with at that time quitted gaming, and I did not finish the game. I came back on the game in August, and I took the platinum trophy, taking advantage of a national holiday. 🙂

Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto and published by parent company Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is the eleventh installment and the fifth main title in the Far Cry series, and it was released on March 27, 2018.

Similar to its predecessors, Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter set in an open world environment which the player can explore freely on foot or via various vehicles, on the ground or in the air. Unlike previous titles in the series where the player takes on the role of a set character, the game will feature a new character creator, which the player can use to customize their character’s appearance.

Note: If you have more games from Ubisoft, you will get for free some clothes from those games. For example, you will be able to be dressed as an FBI agent if you have bought Rainbow Six Siege.

The player will have a variety of ranged and explosive weapons to fight against enemies, while the game will place a renewed emphasis on close-quarters combat compared to previous Far Cry titles by introducing a wider range of melee weapons.

The game takes place in Hope County, a fictional region of Montana, United States. You will control an unnamed junior deputy sheriff who needs to make friends in order to liberate the county from Joseph Seed’s doomsday cult. In order to do that, first, you will need to free the three regions controlled by Joseph Seed’s closest persons: Faith, John, and Jacob, and, in the end, you will get the mission to eliminate the Father.

Interesting end, I might say so!

There are tones of actions to do at the beginning of the game, as the open world is full of cult’s outposts, buildings, armies, and vehicles, but also animals, from fish to bears, and birds to skunks, that are completing a great, but totally crazy story named Far Cry 5. Take a look also at the soundtrack, as it is offering the full experience if you are playing with a good pair of headsets.

You will liberate Outposts for the people of Montana, you will find and kill small groups of enemies that are hunting down the people of Montana and free these ones too, you will destroy churches, you will hunt bison with your bare hands, you will have a bear as a pet, and you will find out that the government is really hiding evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial forms of life, and you will help a scientist to save the world from aliens.

It will be quite an adventure.

And you will love it.

The entire list of the trophies is available here. Read it before going to the battle, as you might want to take some trophies earlier, for points. Also, if you will try to finish the game on FFW like me, you will notice a huge difference in the gameplay at the end of the game, as Montana’s open-world is changing from a hard combat environment in the beginning to a chill place in the end.

It is almost impressive to notice that, as in the beginning can’t even fish without being afraid that a cult patrol will bump into you, at the end of the story, when Joseph’s cult is eliminated, you will see citizens of Montana that are playing guitar around campfires, or working the fields. Others are hunting, but there are also some people that are doing activities that are implying vehicles, both on the ground or in the air.

This is how I left my game.

A beautiful place to virtually live in. 🙂

Also, you might consider bookmarking these links: Far Cry 5 Hard Fishing Spot Locations – How to Beat Region Records, and an interactive map of all stuff in Montana, built by IGN. It will help you a lot, as sometimes things might go wrong, as not finding a place on your map because of a glitch, or something.

Some ideas

My gameplay style is somehow common. I am starting by discovering as much as I can from the open world, do some story missions to unlock the first levels and egoods, and trying to experience different things like flying, taking over enemies, hunting, fishing, etc. After a couple of days, I am finishing the story and attack the leftovers.

If you ask me now, this game is easy to finish if you follow these instructions.

  1. Travel and discover as much map as fast as you can.
  2. Fish and hunt every new region you discover.
  3. Recruit Boomer, it will tag all enemies and animals nearby
  4. Recruit Nick Rye, The King of the Skies
  5. Recruit Adelaide Drubman, The Chopper Queen
  6. Use the chopper to discover the map
  7. Track some of your trophies with the Ubisoft Club app.

If you do all of this and use Bommer and another Specialist listed above, you will be able to finish this game faster than you think. Fish and animals will give you resources, Boomer will help you mark anything that moves on the map, and the others are ready to destroy everything you need. The rest of the specialists are useless unless you want to be creative. Haha.

Good luck and come back to drop a line in the comments with your experience!

What do you think about Breakpooint BETA?

Apparently, there are Ghost Recon’s fans not satisfied by Breakpoint, the upcoming Ghost Recon game. The screenshot is from a Facebook Ghost Recon group I joined half a year ago, and I have the feeling that the new BETA weekend will make this kind of posts grow in number, as everybody might have the feeling that is playing a Division 2 DLC or something. Like I did.

Have you played Breakpoint BETA?

What’s your opinion on this matter?

Is Breakpoint a Ghost Recon game?

The Last of Us Remastered

The Last of Us is an action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 4 on July 2014 and presents the story of Ellie, a teenage girl, and Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting her across a post-apocalyptic United States.

MLB The Show 19

The game description is like this: Take part in the ultimate baseball duel: the battle between hitter and pitcher. Get in a quick game, explore a full RPG-style experience or take on the world in online competition – playing as MLB legends past and present. Discover the best of baseball. Welcome to The Show™.

Well, thank you! 🙂

Resident Evil: Project Resistance

A friend recommended me Resident Evil. Not necessarily my type of game, but here is the trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil one and also mode details from Tokyo Game Show. In other news, Capcom producer insists Resident Evil spinoff Project Resistance is “a great survival horror experience” (source).

Tokyo Game Show

Terminator: Resistance (2019)

Sony published today a trailer for Terminator: Resistance, a first-person shooter set during the “Future War” scenario that was only glimpsed at in the iconic films, “The Terminator” and “T2: Judgement Day”. It will be released on December 3 in USA, but sooner in Europe and Australia, on November 15 (source).

Looks pretty cool! I am starting to like the games that are following the stories of iconic movies. This fall’s gaming goal is to finish Star Wars Battlefront II – I still have some trophies to get, related to reaching higher levels in the game and some starship challenges -, a great game with an extraordinary graphics.

What other games that you first saw on TV have you played on PlayStation? Spid… 🙂

Bus Simulator & Truck Driver on PlayStation 4 starting this week!

A few weeks ago I watched a funny live stream on Youtube. A group of friends was playing some truck simulator on PC, but just imagine a couple of hundreds of trucks, all players, in a convoy moving between two destinations in Europe (I can’t remember exactly).

Huge, but you could say it’s boring. After all, the trip takes a few hours of driving. The idea is that I was unaware of the situations that may occur. For example, I almost died laughing when one of the live stream participants sent a warning on a very serious tone:

– Dear colleagues, be careful, we are overtaken by a lagged truck. Hold the line!

I think that is the worst thing that…

Anyway :), I didn’t find any truck simulators on PS4 at that time, but I found out that two simulators will be launched this week – one with buses! It should be a lot of fun, I think. Here are the PlayStation Store pre-order links: Bus Simulator | Truck Driver.

And some gameplay/trailers for a sneak peek.
